Best Spa : Spa Paradiso
With torrential winter storms, icy roads, driveways to be shoveled and sidewalks to be salted, sometimes it seems like Spokane is the polar opposite of paradise. But with one trip to Spa Paradiso, you can bring that midwinter mini-vacation right to the snow-covered Inland Northwest.

Spa Paradiso has something on its full-service spa menu for everyone. You want a massage? They’ve got everything from Swedish to Reiki. Need a touch-up on that goatee or a new hairstyle? They can do it. Will being slathered in butter or in a vegetable concoction brighten your day? Paradiso has it covered.

Jan Schoonover, owner of the spa, says that what makes Paradiso so popular are her experienced staff members, who make a good impression with customers right from the first phone call. And speaking of good impressions, customers reach the spa, located in the basement of the historic Davenport Hotel, by entering through the dripping-with-marble Pompeian Room. Not only can you make an appointment with some of the best primpers and primers in town, but you can relax in style.

“I would say (the staff) is the best that Spokane has to offer,” Schoonover says. “They’re all confident and well-educated. Everyone is really confident in what they are doing.”

Paradiso sports an army of beauticians from manicurists to aestheticians. Getting you to relax and enjoy yourself is their job. And they come armed: With two wet rooms, tubs with over 96 jets and two Swiss showers, it’s hard not to relax.

The spa is one of few in the area that offers hot stone massage – a deep-tissue massage followed by the rubbing of hot stones all over the body. Paradiso also features special facial treatments for aging skin.

In addition to being kneaded, snipped, rubbed and wrapped, customers can take a load off in the Serenity Room – a dimly lit space dedicated to relaxation.

Whether it’s the classy atmosphere, the soothing services or the central location, Spa Paradiso has relaxed – or hypnotized – Inlander readers just enough to award it the title for the Inland Northwest’s best spa.
